Insaniquarium pets

LIST PETS INSANIQUARIUM

Stinky the Snail
Stinky is confined to roaming the bottom of your tank. He will collect any treasures that fall there. Pair with Seymour since Seymour lets coins sit on the tank bottom much longer than normal. Stinky will turn red if he isn't allowed to collect any of the treasures dropped by your fish. Turns back to normal colors after collecting a treasure. The colorchange does not have any effect on the game. Stinky will move towards the treasure closest to him.

Niko the Oyster

Niko the Oyster
Occasionally produces pearls worth $250 (game mode) or 10 shells (VT). He is a good way to pick up some early cash when your guppies are young, but you can get a better value from Shrapnel.

Itchy the Swordfish

Itchy the Swordfish
Helps attack aliens in your tank. Itchy is best used in Tank 1 when he can always help. Rufus is confined to the floor and Gash's price is too hefty to pay on such a low level tank.

Prego the Momma Fish

Prego the Momma Fish
Releases a baby guppy now and then into your tank at no cost. Some people like not having to pay for new fish when starting a level, but from the money you get from Shrapnel you can buy six times as many in Adventure Mode. As you get the breeders in Tank 4 a different choice of pet is adviced here. She does help alleviate the cost of feeding your Carnivores in Tank 1 and could be a great help in Challenge mode.

Zorf the Seahorse

Zorf the Seahorse
Spits out food pellets if any of your fish get hungry. If you want to focus on growth over quantity early in the game, Zorf's pellets are better than the wafers you can feed the fish at the start. However, once you have upgraded to vitamins and a high quantity, his use seems rather limited, as Zorf spits out the grade 2 pellet (the green pellet) and max 3 at a time.

Clyde the Jellyfish

Clyde the Jellyfish
Collects treasure anywhere in your tank. Pair up with Seymour, Nimbus, or both. Clyde is a good collector, but with these friends he can REALLY clean up. Clyde will move towards the treasure closest to him.

Vert the Skeleton

Vert the Skeleton
Drops gold coins like large guppies, but doesn't require food. Best Use: If your virtual tank isn't very populated, he drops a golden shell. Put him with your screensaver if you have slot open for a pet that you aren't using. Or use in early rounds instead of Shrapnel (coins arrive more frequently and less danger to guppies.)

Rufus the Fiddler Crab

Rufus the Fiddler Crab
Does heavy damage to aliens, but is confined to bottom of tank. A good help in levels with only Destructor or Ulysses. The other aliens can be moved to the bottom of the tank by clicking on their heads.

Meryl the Mermaid

Meryl the Mermaid
Her song will cause all guppies to drop 3 coins / stars / diamonds / shells. Pair with Seymour and/or a collector or you'll never catch half of what she produces if you have many guppies in your tank.

Wadsworth the Whale

Wadsworth the Whale
Protects all small/medium guppies from alien attacks. While you are still getting used to the game he is good to have around to help you train, but once you get used to how battle works, you might never use him. It really depends on your playing style. Something else that should be noted is that when all of your large guppies die Wadsworth will fall asleep. This will result in all of your small and medium sized guppies being released by him which will leave them vulnerable to being attacked. Another oddity, discovered by Sami, is that if you have Rhubarb and Wadsworth in the same tank, and an alien appears and Wadsworth moves too low on the screen, Rhubarb will snap at the guppies inside of Wadsworth, causing them to temporarily jump out of him, and leaving them open to be eaten if you're not careful.

Seymour the Turtle

Seymour the Turtle
Makes treasure fall at a slower rate. Pair with a collector and the collector can grab about twice as much money than before.

Shrapnel the Robot Fish

Shrapnel the Robot Fish
Drop bombs that are worth $150 when picked up, but the bombs will kill a fish on contact. Turn Presto into him right away at the start of a level. It is unquestionably the fastest way to make money during the first minute or two during the game. Afterward, he can be more of a hazard than a help.

Gumbo the Angler

Gumbo the Angler
Attracts all guppies and breeders away from aliens. Will always move to the opposite end of the tank according to where the aliens are. Can be used nearly any time. If you have the aliens on one side of the tank and Gumbo on the other, you have nothing to worry about. Using with PyschoSquid or a tank with multiple aliens can be dangerous as he herds all of your guppies into one easy target.

Blip the Porpoise

Blip the Porpoise
Locates alien's entry points, shows alien hit points, shows when fish are getting hungry, and opens up all purchase options. The information he offers can be both plentiful and useful dependent upon player strategy. Warning: Because he opens up all of the options, this can be a hinderance in Challenge mode since the price of the egg and all the other items and fish will start increasing immediately.

Rhubarb the Hermit Crab

Rhubarb the Hermit Crab
Snaps his claws to keep guppies off the bottom of the tank. This will keep the guppies from being at the bottom of the tank when dropping coins or other treasures, but it doesn't work so well with the guppy crunchers in tank 3. As it says in Wadsworth's summary; Sami discovered that if you have Rhubarb and Wadsworth in the same tank, and an alien appears and Wadsworth moves too low on the screen, Rhubarb will snap at the guppies inside of Wadsworth, causing them to temporarily jump out of him, and leaving them open to be eaten.

Nimbus the Manta Ray

Nimbus the Manta Ray
Throws any treasure or food from the bottom of the tank back to the top. Pair with Clyde and/or Seymour. Giving your coin collector (even if that's just you) a second chance on missed coins greatly increases your income. The fact that he throws back food (in Game Modes only, not in VT) as well also saves you the odd $5 every now and then. Nimbus will ignore treasures meant for someone else, like the stars if you have starcatchers in your tank.

Amp the Electric Eel

Amp the Electric Eel
Electrocutes guppies turning them into diamonds. Pair with Angie. When Amp kills your guppies, she will bring as many of them back to life as she can, but you still get the profit. If you only have guppies in your tank, a free babay guppy appears as Amp shocks the rest into diamonds. This is to prevent you from 'Ooops! All your fish have died'-losing. Walter's punch charges Amp.

Gash the Shark

Gash the Shark
Does severe damage against aliens, but eats a guppy about once per battle, and occasionally other times. Great anywhere, except Tank 1. The cost of a guppy is probably too high in Tank 1. With breeders in tank 4, you won't even notice the price you pay for feeding him.

Angie the Angelfish

Angie the Angelfish
Revives dead (but not eaten) fish. Best use is in tank 4, especially in Challenge mode. When you've lost half of your fish from missile blasts, reviving them sure beats paying for them again. See note above about pairing with Amp.

Presto the Tadpole

Presto the Tadpole
Can turn into ANY other pet. Use him everywhere. You can turn him into anything you need at a particular moment. Switch him to Rufus/Itchy/Gumbo when you get an attack warning, switch to a coin collector or Meryl when the attack is over. (This strategy alone can save you from upgrading lasers.) Many strategies rely on using Presto to serve one function early in the game but a different function later. For example, use him as Shrapnel for the first minute to boost your money supply, but then change him to something less dangerous after you have about 10 fish. Also, this effectively allows you to have two of the same pet in your tank. Note: When Walter punches Presto, he will turn back into his tadpole form. And the few seconds Presto needs to change to another pet you won't be able to use him, so don't wait until the last minute to make the switch.

Brinkley the Scuba Diving Elephant (Cost: 20,000 shells)

Brinkley
He will snack on your guppies' food, but will spit out a star, diamond, pearl or treasure chest after every three feeds. (Star, blue shell, spiral shell or bag of shells in VT.) Not the most useful pet in Adventure Mode, but you need to buy him to get to the next pets and upgrades. In screensaver mode nothing else can feed your StarCatchers until you've bought Cookie.

Nostradamus the Nose (Cost: 25,000 shells)

Nostradamus
The power of his sneeze will randomly delay alien attacks. Nose drippings (eww, gross!) are worth $1, but if eaten by a guppy, that guppy will also turn into a Nose. Nostradamus's nose drippings can be eaten by any guppy, not just a large one. But they have to be very hungry - more so even than when they turn green. Use presto as Nostradamus temporarily and change him back to something else once you get another nose. Use Amp to kill all the noses if you start getting too many. Delayed attacks can help in Time Trial or Challenge mode.

Stanley the Startlingly Small Sea Serpent (Cost: 30,000 shells)

Stanley
Throws sports balls (whiffle ball, soccer ball, beach ball, or basketball) at aliens causing some damage. When aliens enter the tank, Stanley will aim accurately at the missile-like objects before aiming at the alien itself. This could help save some of your fishes against missile-firing aliens.

Walter the Penguin (Cost: 35,000 shells)

Walter
When clicked, he will punch fish forcing them to drop treasure. Punching a pet will cause them to activate their power. Walter's punch works on Vert, Shrapnel, Amp and all your treasure-dropping fish. Walter seems to be the key to finishing levels fast as possible. Punching money out of Ultravores or forcing Amp to charge can be lucrative. Walter will fall asleep every 5th punch and wake up after a short snooze, ready to punch some more. See the strategy guides for challenge tanks 3 and 4 for a better explanation.
